Road trip

Long live the weekend!

Ever since I returned from San Francisco I’ve been suffering from jetlag and alternating sleepless nights and I felt like a zombie walking around during the day. Although I had a full weekend last week with no plans so that I could sleep more and recover (but I couldn’t really switch my brain off from work), I feel like this weekend now I am finally disconnecting completely, getting enough sleep and starting to feel good again.

I am visiting my family during this long Easter weekend, I arrived on Thursday evening, I rested on Friday till afternoon and then we went to the cinema to watch Grand Budapest Hotel in the evening. The movie ratings and reviews were great and so are the actors playing in this movie so I automatically picked this movie without checking what it is all about or watching at least the trailer. I won’t complain here and ruin the movie for you, it wasn’t bad but all I will say is that it was different than what I expected, not the usual comedy that I watch on any given day.

On Saturday we went on a road trip to Dracula’s famous Bran castle. The castle was quite impressive and I got to learn more about its history, its inhabitants and also about Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Is Dracula a myth or a reality? Well, you will just have to go and visit the castle to find out! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The day passed by so fast, we spent 3 hours driving there in the morning and then 3 hours to come back in the evening. Can somebody please discover teleportation already??

We visited the castle inside and out, and went for a late lunch which turned out to be a big feast because we couldn’t make up our minds so we eventually ordered soup, main course and dessert too. The dessert was the bomb and I actually shared the portion with my mom, so one piece each.

Here are more pictures from the trip.

Today is a lazy day because I felt like I needed some more relaxation and rest. We had a huge breakfast with all kinds of homemade sausages, cheeses and veggies bought from the farmers on our way home from the trip. It was perhaps a bit heavy but I only have this once a year and it’s sooo delicious!

Today I basically just played on my gadgets in the morning (currently addicted to Quizduell) and played Uno with my family all afternoon and I WON!

I am now taking another break, checking social media while dinner is being prepared. We’re having the traditional Easter lamb roast with potato salad. The house is smelling sooo good right now, you can’t even imagine.

My opponents asked for another round of Uno in the evening so I will just have to give them the opportunity to lose again, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Finally I would like to wish you all happy Easter!

  1. Omg I bet bram stokers draculas castle was amazing! I’d seriously love to to go! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. It was the second time that I visited the castle and loved it again. There is so much to see, so much history and the resemblance of the castle and the legend of Vlad ศšepes to the story in Bram Stoker’s book is astonishing. It is definitely worth a visit! ๐Ÿ˜‰
