We had the spontanous idea last weekend to drive to the mountains this weekend. We picked the place. I quickly searched for a hotel. Booked it. And here we are now. In Kaprun at Kitzsteinhorn.
It’s the end of November so there isn’t any snow, except on the glacier. We’ve already been to Kaprun and it’s the third time in a row that we decided to return. I love this place!
I chose the same hotel Tauernhof like last year, they offer 3/4 pension which includes breakfast, afternoon snack and dinner. The hotel also has a spa with pool and sauna. Everybody is so friendly and I always feel so welcome here. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that so many stores are located just a few steps away, you know for a spontaneous shopping spree. 😉
So I worked at home till 14 o’clock on Friday and we arrived at 18 o’clock in Kaprun, luckily no traffic jams on the way as it is usual on Friday afternoon. I was pretty tired from working and driving so we had dinner and then I fell asleep in front of the tv.
Saturday started with a big delicious breakfast. I went to the Tauernspa thermal bath afterwards for a few hours and it was nice, quiet and relaxing. I stopped at the stores on the way back to the hotel and I managed to kill a few hours there and some money too.
I changed into my workout clothes right after coming back to the hotel so that I don’t get lazy and not get the planned workout in and I went to the hotel gym to do the week 7 day 5 workout of the 1-2-3 Grow program. I forgot about how small the gym is and that there is no equipment except some broken or squeaky cardio machines.
I had to improvise but I managed to do a great leg workout and have a good calorie burn. I even used the stairs in the hotel for stepups, luckily nobody saw me or they would think I am crazy. I was in so much pain but it’s a good pain. 🙂
I passed by the afternoon snack area after the workout and ate a small soup so that I can survive till dinner. Dinner was a delicious 4-course menu and we played some pool, table soccer and table tennis afterwards. I am really terrible at them.
The weather on Saturday wasn’t so nice, it was cold and cloudy, but Sunday it was so beautiful, sunny and warm. After yet another big breakfast, I spent most of the day on the top of the mountain taking walks, napping in the sun, reading a book and admiring the view. I couldn’t really do anything else because my muscles were still so sore from the leg workout on Saturday.
I usually eat only breakfast and dinner when traveling and staying at hotels where food is provided. Sunday I had to make an exception because I was totally craving for an Austrian Kaiserschmarrn.
I could only eat half because it was huge and I felt so full but I also have to leave some room for the 8-course dinner in the evening as well. This is how dinner looked like. 🙂
The weekend is over, time passed so fast and it’s already Monday, thankfully I took the day off but it’s a travel day. We just had breakfast and we’re packing to drive home. We will be stopping at the Ingolstadt Village Outlet for some shopping though so I have that to look forward to today! 😉
