Our trip had unfortunately a bad start with an estimated 4 hours drive to Bremgarten which turned to over 6 hours due to traffic jams everywhere. We had to take a few detours because the highway was packed so full and we even ended up in Austria for a short time because going through Bregenz was the quickest way to pass to Switzerland from Germany.
We arrived on Friday evening to our friends and spent a great evening catching up.
I’ve played so much with the kids of our friends during this weekend, it was both fun and exhausting. The little one is 3,5 and the older one is 7,5. They are so cute!!!
We visited Bremgarten on Saturday. It is a nice small quiet city near Zürich and the old city center is lovely. We walked along the Reuss river but the weather was terrible, it kept alternating between rain showers and sunny warm weather but we managed to enjoy some good food in a mexican restaurant and some ice cream afterwards in an ice cream parlour while it was raining.
We drove to Lucerne on Sunday, I was really looking forward to visiting this city and I was not disappointed. It was everything I imagined it to be and more. The city was full with tourists, no parking places anywhere but we enjoyed our afternoon there nevertheless.
We took a walk along the promenade and admired the beautiful view to the lake and the surrounding mountains. We even took a boat ride on the lake, it was so fun.
I highly recommend the Mövenpick ice cream parlour in front of Grand Casino Luzern. That ice cream is sooo good! I had swiss chocolate, espresso crunch and raspberry-strawberry.
The top of the Pilatus was covered in fog, otherwise we would’ve taken the cable car up to the top to admire the view from above. It is suppossed to be impressive and we’ll try to see it over the next few days.
We also considered going to Zürich for a day to watch the European Athletics Championships because it was this week and even Usain Bolt was here in Zúrich to watch the championship. Eventually we decided to skip it because the city was too crowded and we watched it on the tv in the evening.
