Unboxing: Xbox One Day One

We sadly packed away our Xbox 360 tonight but Xbox One Day One Edition is here!

We preordered it in August and it’s a good thing we did so early because some people didn’t get theirs, even though they preordered too.

What’s in the box:

  • Xbox console
  • Kinect
  • One controller
  • Headphone
  • HDMI cable
  • Power cord
  • FIFA 14 code which comes with the Day One Edition
  • Day One achievement code

The Xbox One console is definitely bigger than the 360 and it’s square shaped.

The Kinect looks similar to the console but in a smaller version. We need to get a holder to put it on top of our tv.

The controller is nicer than the old one and it feels better in the hand.

Notice the Day One 2013 message on the controller? Microsoft put a small message also inside the controller where the battery goes, can you spot it? Hint: Hello from Seattle!

It’s on, baby!

How to set it up (10-15 minutes):

  • Select xbox language
  • Select where you live
  • Update (about 500 Mb)
  • Set up Kinect sign in

The user interface is nice and fresh. I really like it!

A few minus points: some basic actions are still throwing errors so it doesn’t seem completely stable and the voice recognition is still not good enough to recognize what I say sometimes but perhaps my english is the problem though. Another thing that bugs me is the localization, you can pick english as xbox language only if you live in US, UK, Australia or NZ.

Anyways, I redeemed the code for the Day One achievement! My very first achiement on the Xbox One!

NBA2K14 is our first Xbox One game and we are already looking to buy more.

I am so excited and I am looking forward to see what Xbox One has in store for us!
