Long weekend

I’ve had some busy couple of weeks ever since returning from the family visit and I am just trying to get back into my regular routine ever since.

I am taking a break from running (also missed the running group session last week ๐Ÿ˜ž because I wasn’t feeling so well and it was also way too hot outside at 4 in the afternoon) and I am concentrating on weight training instead.

I’ve been diligently going to the gym 4 times a week, doing the Jamie Eason Live Fit Program, currently on week 3 (doing only one leg day per week instead of two because I don’t want my legs to get too big). I also started following the IIFYM diet plan, with macros set to 50C-30P-20F. I am starting to see slow improvements here and there, I am definitely getting stronger but leaner as well.

I’ve been trying to switch it up for breakfast and planned more time every day before work to wake up early and prepare breakie and enjoy it too without having to rush out the door quickly, like I usually do.

With the IIFYM I’ve been also indulging in some very tasty foods and cakes for lunch and dinner guilt-free. Obviously this diet is not an excuse for cheat meals but I am allowing myself things that I normally probably wouldn’t eat, of course only in small portions and not too often. For example it was the first time that I tried the pizza with spinach & feta cheese and I loved it!

Getting back to the topic of this post though, it’s a long weekend here with 4 days off and I’ve been enjoying it a lot. I worked out every single day at the gym, met with friends for lunch, had nice long walks, went shopping, watched Heroes (my current addiction), slept a lot, had naps and, of course, studied for my upcoming MCPD upgrade exam.

I am taking a rest day today from working out to give my legs a chance to recover from the tough leg day and the HIIT that I’ve been doing on non-leg days. I actually planned to go running today but I decided to take a walk instead, enjoy the scenery and just relax.

Tomorrow it’s back to the gym for me for shoulders & abs and I plan to bike there and back. I am so looking forward to it!
